CashBase Tracks Money

Web & iPhone app for simple cash flow tracking

Build out of frustration with available personal finance software , CashBase was made by Filip Chereches-Tosa and Radu Lucaciu from Romania with attention to detail and a bit of Web design philosophy preached by the folks at 37Signals .

It is indeeed very clean and simple Web 2.0 app for tracking your monthly earnings and expenses.
The principle is money-in / money-out, so it gives you clean picture about the cash flow.

Even the colors are right. Invitation button for sign up is blue ( blue's the color of finances ), earning side is green and spending side is red.

Sign up process is fast. !5 seconds later you're good to go.
Left side is for earnings, right side is for expenses.

The central point of the app is ''transaction'', whether adding or subtracting amounts.
It is possible to create many wallets or accounts and track cash flow for each account.
Each transaction tags with certain date or the range of dates so you can use analytics feature from the right menu and see the stat / graphical presentation of the cash flow.

More so, app is promising to be able to predict your cash flow in the future based on the history.

Mobile component is there as well. iPhone app is in the AppStore and allways in synch with Web version.

One important aspect of every money app is data privacy. CashBase does state full support for secure connection and data verified by GlobeSSl. The credibility could be easy lost with any mishandling of sensitive private data, so this is critical promise .

CashBase is nice little app, but it is still work in progress and it can be improved with more features or add-ons not compromising simplicity.

It left me with desire to have this few wishes: Terms of service ( my law opsession ) still not up, easier way for making new wallet/account ( not geeky syntax like @newAccount, deposit ) , stats menues should be more visible ( they're too grey ) , ability to calibrate your account for losses from the start, summary of all accounts/wallets, ability to add spending category/tag/label, different currencies etc.

I can easily imagine that this app could be one day with enhanced functionality offered on the market- premium accounts.
The base is certainly there.

Nokia E5 Reviews

Nokia E5, the latest addition to the Eseries stable, taking the best of the Nokia E71 and E72 and making something even better. Before we go through the raft of tasty features on board the Nokia E5, we should ponder on the battery life. 18 hours and 30 minutes talk time (in GSM mode). 29 days standby time. Yep, you read that right. The Nokia E5 is for perfect for anyone who doesn’t like charging their phone. Too often.

Packing the latest version of S60 3rd edition, the Nokia E5 boasts a suite of homescreen features including one-touch access to your favourite contacts, and your favourite social networks. It also boasts Facebook updates direct to your contacts list, so you can always see what your friends are up to and, as it packs the latest version of Nokia Messaging, you get full Instant Messaging functionality too.
Nokia E5 is one of the messaging phones released by the Nokia recently. The E5 comes with full qwerty keyboard and excellent features for the social website integration features. This will definitely attract the social networking consumers and heavy texters. The E5 features a 5 megapixel camera, 3G connectivity, Wi-Fi, MicroUSB, MicroSD card slot, a 3.5mm audio jack, and etc. The most of aspect of the Nokia E5 is its economical price. Read the full review to find out more about the E5.

The Nokia E5 somewhat resembles Nokia E63 in design. It has got an attractive sleek look. We also liked its slim profile and it is one of the compact messenger phones around. The Nokia has ensured to make E5 message friendly. It measures 115mm tall, 58.9mm wide and 12.8mm thick. It weighs around 126grams. It is available in 5 colors: Carbon Black, Sky Blue, Silver Grey, Copper Brown and chalk white.

The E5 sports 2.36inch display, which has the resolution of 320 x 240 pixels and supports 256000 colors. The screen is bright and colorful. We don’t have any gripes with it.

Below the screen you will find a navigation array that includes a four way square toggle with middle select key, two soft keys, dedicated shortcut keys for accessing favorite contacts and messages, the call and End/Power key. We liked the full qwerty keyboard. The keys are sufficiently large and tactile, which offer better feedback. The messaging on this phone is breeze. You will find a 3.5mm audio jack on the top of the device and a microUSB port on the left spine. There is a camera at the back of the device.

Somewhat similar to the Nokia E72 in terms of specification, the E5 combines business messaging with social networking, supporting corporate email systems like Exchange and Lotus Notes on one hand, and social sites such as Twitter and Facebook on the other. It is questionable if corporate customers will actually want their staff to muck about with social networking on their company phones though, but that's another matter entirely.

This is a Symbian smartphone, running S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2. As well as messaging and social networking, the E5 comes with GPS and free navigation software, a VPN client, remote wipe capabilities plus all the usual features that you would expect to find in a messaging smartphone.

Mobile VC Investment

Mobile now represents 34 percent of all tech venture capital, according to research from CapitalIQ.

A kind of gold-rush fever seems to have hit the finance world, as consumer usage, mobile traffic and the number of advanced mobile devices have boomed. People are begnning to think of mobile as potentially the primary platform for computing and getting connected. As Rajeev Chand, head of research for Rutberg, notes: “What RIM did for e-mail, iPhone and Android are doing for all of computing.”

It has also helped that mobile’s developing a very strong track record for big exits. Witness recent deals:
—Starent (sold to Cisco for $2.9 billion),
—Atheros (sold to Qualcomm for $3.1 billion),
—AdMob (bought by Google for $750 million),
—Quattro (sold to Apple for $275 million), and
—ngmoco (sold to Japanese games company DeNA for nearly $400 million).

The Nokia Company announced about more than one million Nokia 5800 XpressMusic sold.

This result was achieved with the sales start in Great Britain. As the producer mentioned in press release, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is the first Nokia smartphone with sensor display oriented for mass sales.

Invisible I phone 5 Pics and Clip

They would have to be stored on the cloud due to the slow transfer speeds of NFC technology, apparently Apple have been working on it for quite some time now, but we may not see it released in the iPhone 5, or even the iPhone 6, heck we may never see it.

But whoever is first into the cloud market with a proper functioning service will have a massive headstart over everyone else.

iPhone 4G / HD prices

We already know that Apple have their WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference) booked in for early June. It’s hotly anticipated that during the event Steve Jobs will officially show off the latest incarnation of the much loved iPhone. Some early indicators have suggested that we’ll see the new handset available to consumers from June 21st; this certainly fits the time-scales we’ve seen on previous iPhone launches over the past few years. One question on many consumers lips right now is, “How much will the new iPhone cost?

The original iPhone (2G) is not going to supported by the upcoming new iPhone Operating System (OS4). It’s therefore fair to assume that when the 4th generation iPhone is released, we’ll see the 2nd generation (iPhone 3G) retired from active sales. Based upon this assumption, and a strong hope that Apple won’t keep increasing the prices of their product, I would expect the following handsets to be available and at the following price points*:

  • iPhone 3GS 16Gb £349 / $499
  • iPhone 3GS 32Gb £399 / $549
  • iPhone 4G/HD 32Gb £449 / $599
  • iPhone 4G/HD 64Gb £549 / $699

* Based on current figures for customers buying a handset outright for use with either their own sim or as part of a pay as you go scheme. No consideration taken for carrier specific offers or promotions

This places the 4th generation handsets at a price point that reflects the current UK/US cost of the 3GS. The 3GS moving to the price of the 2nd generation iPhone 3G, with a new price point added for the 32Gb 3rd generation handset.

Of course, we’ll only know for certain how much the handsets will be once operators and Apple themselves release the relevant prices (most likely) next month.

How do you feel about these potential prices? Are they way off or do they feel about right? Share with us your views and insights below.
